Recently, I've casually watched a couple episodes of season 3 of Lost. When the show first came out, I completely dismissed it because I thought, "Who cares about people stranded on an island," while having no idea that the island itself was a character in the show.
After being quite confused (which I think is really the only point of this show) from season 3 episodes, I decided to get season 1 and 2 on DVD.
Having this on DVD is critical for sanity. The show is completely built around putting as many commercials as possible in a 60 minute window. Even though I am a pro at triple clicking fast forward on my Tivo and hitting play at just the right moment, it doesn't even begin to compare to how nice it is to have, 'fade to black', half second of time, and then back to the show.
I also stumbled on an incredible web site: www.lostpedia.com I don't think I've seen a web site so well done and so completely dedicated to this show. It really is worth checking out, but *DO NOT READ AHEAD*. Watch the show(s) and then read the site to catch details you missed that others, with far too much time on their hands, were able to spot.
I have 3 discs left of season two to catch up to this year. One thing I like is based on who I don't see in season 3, vs the people I do see in season two, is a great indicator of who makes it and who doesn't. Sometimes I'm quite happy that a character is not around for season 3. But, I won't put any spoilers here. www.lostpedia.com if you want spoilers galore.
